Leading PVC-free wide-format materials brand KAVALAN announces a new distribution partnership with Scandraft, bringing its portfolio of PVC-free wide-format materials to professional sign makers, large-format print businesses and display producers across the Swedish market.
Part of the European IGEPA Group, Scandraft AB is an established Scandinavian distributor of visual communication materials, digital print media and signage solutions, operating across Sweden and Norway. Founded in 1992, the company has built a strong reputation for stock availability, technical expertise and close relationships with customers and international brand partners.
Scandraft’s product offering includes cut vinyl and decorative film, wrapping and PPF, print media and laminates, textile transfers, tools and accessories, as well as materials for display production. The company sees PVC-free materials as a potential growth area as sustainability increases in importance across the Swedish print industry, and it was this that led to the new partnership.
KAVALAN’s PVC-free portfolio spans a wide range of large-format print applications, with five core product families: Sunlight for frontlit banner applications; Moonlight for backlit and lightbox displays; Butterfly for double-sided blockout applications; Spiderweb for mesh banners; and Gecko for interior and event decoration, including wallcoverings and flooring. Designed as alternatives to traditional PVC materials, KAVALAN products combine the performance and versatility required for professional large-format print with independently assessed environmental data through Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). The portfolio includes solutions compatible with UV, Latex and UVgel printing technologies, alongside options offering flame-retardant and weldable performance for specific applications.
Mats Bengtsson, Purchase Manager at Scandraft comments: “Demand for PVC-free materials is growing, but the Swedish market is still quite cautious. The interest is there for banners, events, retail, exhibitions and other large-format applications, but price and performance are still important. The strongest demand comes from larger organisations with clear sustainability goals and requirements from their own customers. KAVALAN’s PVC-free product line, carbon footprint tracking, and rigorous environmental documentation fit perfectly with our ambition to lead the sustainable transition in our market.”
The KAVALAN range of materials is complemented by KAVALAN’s Eco Calculator, which enables businesses to quantify the environmental savings and eco-reductions that result from switching to PVC-free large-format banner and textile materials. This is something that Daniel Forsgren, Category Manager Large Format Printing at Scandraft believes will play an important role in driving the switch to PVC-free materials in Sweden: “Sustainability has become more important, especially among larger customers. We also see that customers are asking for more facts and documentation, rather than just general sustainability claims. Good environmental data and independent verification will become especially important, as customers need to be able to prove why they have chosen one material over another.”
Forsgren adds: “Our ambition is to make KAVALAN a well known PVC-free alternative in the Swedish market. A successful partnership would mean growing sales, but also getting more customers to actively consider PVC-free materials when choosing their products.”
Rob Karpenko, Director of European Sales at KAVALAN concludes: “At KAVALAN we’re on a mission to raise awareness of PVC-free materials, and using environmental data to demonstrate how these can help companies to meet their sustainability objectives is a big part of that. It’s always gratifying to work with a business that shares that view, and it’s clear that Scandraft believes strongly in the role that transparency and comparable data will play in changing the industry. We’re excited to see our partnership grow as sustainability grows in importance for wide-format print in Sweden.”
